A Garden Wedding
Christina Marie Sacco & Ryan Patrick Shea
Wedding date: March 2, 2013
Where: Bonnet House Museum & Gardens
What They Do: Ryan, 32, is vice president at Right Management and Christina, 31, is director at CompHealth
On selecting the Bonnet House as their venue: The couple wanted an outdoor venue in their city, and they regularly ran on the beach next to the Bonnet House so were familiar with the property. Once they set up a visit, walked around the museum and gardens, and learned the Bonnet’s true history, they knew it was the spot.
The engagement: During a family trip to New York City, Ryan surprised Christina with a night at the Waldorf Astoria hotel. Ryan’s grandmother used to work at the hotel, his parents honeymooned there, and his parents also celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary there. He told Christina he wanted to continue the family history at the resort and proposed to her.
Mixing Irish and italian influences: To honor Christina’s roots, an Italian singer performed during dinner, and to honor Ryan’s roots, Irish “flare” hats, necklaces and glasses were distributed during dancing at the reception.
A Good Cause: The couple had a photo booth by Photo Booth for Good, which donated part of the proceeds to local charities.
Alternative Guestbook: Everyone signed a rock, which the Sheas keep in a clear glass vase in their house.
Favorite Favors: The couple had jars of jam that said “spread the love” from Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Ga., which their family visits multiple times a year.
