Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology
Q. What is new in Clinical Dermatology?
A. The newest advancement in Clinical Dermatology is the evolution of Superficial Radiation Therapy for treatment of skin cancers and thickened scars. New advancement in technology allows for painless, safe and highly effective non-surgical treatment of skin cancer that is in most cases covered by insurance. This same technology is highly effective in preventing recurrent keloid scars. The treatment of nail fungus has also been revolutionized with the approval of the Lunula laser, which is highly effective in allowing for clear, disease free nails. The treatments are completely painless and the laser also appears to be effective for other nail problems such as psoriasis.
Q. What are today’s cutting edge procedures in Aesthetic Dermatology?
A. New, cutting edge minimally invasive aesthetic procedures provide significant results with minimal risk and little or no downtime. Recent innovations have improved both the effectiveness and safety profiles of these procedures. InstaLift is a revolutionary procedure whereby absorbable sutures are simply placed underneath the skin without any surgery and provide instantaneous lift as well as promote formation of new collagen. The simple 30 minute procedure has minimum downtime and long-term results. Radio Frequency (RF) procedures, both injectable and topical have been shown to provide excellent benefits in areas such as the neck, face and body for skin tightening, wrinkle and fat reduction as well as cellulite reduction. These new procedures can be combined with innovative fillers and botulinum toxin to significantly turn back the clock with little or no downtime. It is important to understand however, that these are only tools and it is the experience and artistic ability of the clinician that allows for truly superb results. At the Center for Cosmetic Enhancement, I utilize over 50 cutting edge devices as well as injectables to provide my patients with customized, minimally invasive, naturally appearing results.
