Mastino Italian Soul Food In Delray Lets Pizza Lovers Get Down With Dough At Culinary Boot Camp
Confined to 900 degrees in a stone oven imported from Naples, Italy, pizzas bake within 60 to 90 seconds. The dough at Mastino Italian Soul Food, crafted from double zero flour with no bleach or additives, is often topped with San Marzano tomato sauce, basil and mozzarella cheese. A paddle at the end of a long handle rotates the pizzas to ensure they’re heated from all angles.
Often, you’ll see master pizza chef Salvatore Campanile handling the paddles at Mastino in Delray Beach. You may also see him teaching the location’s Artisan Pizza Academy along with owner Steven Dapuzzo. Diners can enroll in a casual Pizza Bootcamp, where they receive an introduction to the art of pizza-making, or the more serious pizza connoisseur can receive his or her certification through a five-day course.
But, for those who would rather eat without putting in the work, Mastino offers a complete menu that includes small plates, such as house-made meatballs, crispy eggplant stacks and mussels in a spicy tomato sauce; and pizzas of all varieties, including the Margherita, Bufala DOP, Truffle, Spicy Shrimp and Ribeye.
To complete the dining experience, Mastino also offers a full bar, complete with a cocktail menu, and a selection of beers and wines.
