4th Annual Boca Burger Battle Is Almost Here For Those Who Relish A Good Patty
South Florida is home to a lot of mouth-watering burgers—almost too many to try. But one event allows attendees to sample different creations from all over Broward and Palm Beach counties all in an effort to crown the best.
At the fourth annual Boca Burger Battle on Saturday, about 20 eateries from Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Delray Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Lake Worth, Oakland Park, Pompano Beach and Sweetwater will compete for three titles: Best Grill Master, Best Alternative Grill Master and People’s Choice.
The event will take place at Sanborn Square Park and along Federal Highway in downtown Boca Raton.
SALT7 won the 2014 challenge with the Motley burger—a brisket/short rib blend with SALT7 spices, Mexican slaw and Nueske’s bacon on a Kings Hawaiian roll—but the restaurant has something different in store for this weekend’s competition.
“This year, we wanted to shy away from the ‘messy burger’ and produce a burger that may be a risk, but still has a taste unlike anything we’ve ever produced,” said Kyle Gonzales, SALT7's marketing director.
While a panel of eight judges will determine the winners for Best Grill Master and Best Alternative Grill Master, ticket-holders will get to choose the People’s Choice winner.
General admission tickets are $50 per person and include unlimited food tastings and three drink tickets. VIP tickets are $75 in advance or $125 regular price; they include unlimited food and drink tastings.
General admission ticket-holders are admitted at 7 p.m., while VIP ticket-holders are admitted at 6 p.m. You must be 21 years or older to enter the event.
Part of the proceeds from the Boca Burger Battle will benefit PROPEL (People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership), a nonprofit that supports youth with weekly programming and events related to arts, education and recreation.
