8 Breast Cancer Awareness Month Events Happening In Boca Raton And Delray Beach

Breast cancer affects our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, friends—and ourselves. One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. 

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you can raise awareness and show your support for cancer research by participating in an event or making a thoughtful purchase in Delray Beach and Boca Raton. Keep reading to find out about eight ways to give back to the cause this October.

Making Strides of South Palm Beach

On Oct. 14, make strides against breast cancer by participating in the American Cancer Society’s local Making Strides walk in Boca Raton. Anyone can participate, and walkers may raise funds as individuals or as a team. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. (all participants must register) at Florida Atlantic University. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m.

15th Annual Pink Luncheon

This year’s 15th annual Pink Luncheon at the Boca Raton Resort & Club will feature actress, producer and breast cancer survivor Rita Wilson. Hosted by the Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation and chaired by Patti Carpenter, the event will be held Oct. 26 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $175 per person, and proceeds benefit the Go Pink Challenge and breast cancer research.

Downtown Delray Goes Pink

Downtown Delray Beach, including Pineapple Grove, Artists Alley and Atlantic Avenue, is “painting the downtown pink” on Oct. 25. Local merchants and restaurants will be decorating in pink to raise awareness and show support for breast cancer research.

Mizner “Pink” Park

For the entire month of October, Mizner Park is “painting the park pink” with pink lighting throughout, hosting several events to benefit breast cancer programs and services at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. On Oct. 8, from noon to 3 p.m., Boca Regional’s Kathryn Krickstein Pressel MammoVan will be providing early breast cancer detection services, as well as breast health education. Participating restaurants will be offering specialty cocktails and will donate $2 of each purchased cocktail to  Boca Regional. Select retailers will also be offering special promotions.

Shop for a Cause

Hadassah Florida, The Uplift Project and Bloomingdale’s at Town Center at Boca Raton will partner with Bloomingdales’ “Shop for a Cause” on Oct. 5 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Stores will feature displays of decorated bras, and 10 percent of tracked purchases will be donated to Hadassah Florida to support breast cancer research and education.

Breast Cancer Bazaar & Brunch

Learn more about breast cancer, early detection and treatment options at the Lynn Cancer Institute at Boca Raton Regional Hospital’s Breast Cancer Bazaar & Brunch and Learn on Oct. 13. From 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., shop for survivor-specific products and services, support the League of Ribbons with retail shopping and enjoy brunch. An interactive panel discussion will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Rock Your Rosé

On Oct. 20 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., Blue Martini at Town Center at Boca Raton will host the second annual Rock Your Rosé event benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation of South Florida. The event features live music, pink drinks, a raffle, giveaways and rosé specials. A general admission ticket includes a complimentary welcome cocktail and one raffle ticket.

Pamper in Pink

October is also Spa & Wellness Month in the Palm Beaches. Participating spas, juice bars, salons and more in Delray and Boca are offering special yoga, facials, pink smoothies and wellness-oriented products and services during the month of October. All businesses will donate a portion of proceeds to the Palm Beach County chapter of the American Cancer Society.
