Things heated up in South Beach during SWIMMIAMI where the hottest designers showcased their collections to the public during the four-day event, which took place July 20 through July 23.

Among those designers was Audrina Patridge, best known for her role on MTV’s “The Hills,” who debuted her new swimwear line, PREY SWIM  and its Pre-Fall 2017, Resort 2018 and Summer 2017 collections.

Each of the collections transported the audience around the world to locations including France, South America and Marrakech and incorporated exotic designs, colors and figure-flattering styles.

Patridge created her luxury swimwear brand to reflect her California roots, passion for the ocean and sharks and love for international travel.

We met with Patridge before her PREY SWIM runway presentation to discuss her inspirations and new swimwear line.

On creating PREY SWIM:

I [have always tried] to find the perfect suit to express my style, and I could never quite find it. And then I also wanted to find a suit that had certain cuts to accentuate and hide, and I couldn’t find that neither, so I wanted to bring all of that into my designs. And that’s when I was like, ‘I’ll just do my own line.’

On the inspiration behind the collection:

One of the collections is Marrakech inspired…You’ll see lots of earth tones. Our pre-fall collection is very sultry, moody, sexy and South American-inspired, and then we’re going back in time to the ’60s in the South of France, which is very Bergeaud Bordeaux, cute. It’s fun.

On designing for all body types:

We just added XL, so we have XS to XL. We redid all the sizing. We worked out all of the kinks this past year, and we took in all of the constructive criticism and advice on what to do differently to our suits and styles to make it better from my fans and my customers, and we put that into our collection.

On naming her line PREY SWIM:

I have always had a passion for the ocean and the sharks. I really want to use my line to bring awareness and do something good about that.

On what styles to look out for:

One pieces, our high-wasted [bottoms]. We have a lot of cute bikinis, too. Tops that really give you a lift without any wire or padding.
