Barrel of Monks Brewery Opens in Boca Raton
On March 28, Boca’s first full-scale production brewery and tasting room, Barrel of Monks, officially opened its doors to the public.
Started by three longtime Boca Residents, Barrel of Monks is the first brewery in Florida to solely focus on Belgian-style beers.
The main different between Belgian and American or English-style beers are the strains of yeast used when brewing. This allows for more of an assortment of beer flavors.
The tasting room and brewery are located just north of Glades Road and west of Congress Avenue. The tasting room features a rustic atmosphere with chandeliers and Edison lights illuminating the marble counters and burgundy leather seating.
The brewery’s grand opening event had a wonderful turn out with over 1,000 people estimated to be in attendance. Representatives from established craft beer breweries such as Cigar City and Funky Buddha also came to show their support.
Ten beers were on tap for the opening and ranged from low-alcohol content (3 to 5 percent alcohol by volume) to high-alcohol content (10 percent alcohol by volume).
The brewing room, which is open for tours, houses a state-of-the-art 20-barrel system.
Barrel of Monks Brewery is located at 1141 S. Rodgers Cir. #5, Boca Raton. For more information, visit barrelofmonks.com.
