Boca Raton Airport To Open Customs Facility For International Travel
Locals flying with an international trip in mind can now rest easy knowing they will soon be able to fly directly into Boca Raton.
Later this fall, the Boca Raton Airport will be opening a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility on the airport property. With this addition, travelers will no longer have to make multiple stops on their flights home.
The 4,400-square-foot federal inspection facility will allow travelers to fly from their international destinations directly to the Boca Raton-based airport.
Previously, travelers had to stop at either the Palm Beach International or the Fort Lauderdale Executive airports to go through customs before proceeding to the Boca Raton Airport as their final destination.
The building, which is currently under construction, will be easily accessible so that airplanes will be able to taxi to the customs facility upon arrival to the airport.
When the new facility opens, marine travelers will also benefit from the local Customs and Border Protection Service. The building gives the option to local boaters traveling from international locations to go through customs directly in Boca Raton.
