Boca Raton Holiday Boat Parade Is All Set To Light Up The Intracoastal This Weekend
Here in South Florida, we like to take our holiday celebrations to the water.
This year’s Boca Raton boat parade is set to light up the Intracoastal on Saturday, Dec. 19, at 6:30 p.m. Nearly 30 boats are registered for the 39th annual parade, which will begin at the C-15 Canal and travel south to the Hillsboro Bridge.
The event draws thousands of spectators at public viewing areas such as Red Reef Park and Silver Palm Park, and that’s not even counting those who gather at the Boca Raton Resort or at local homes for viewing parties.
And with the area slated to have its first true cold front of the season this weekend, the event should feel a little more festive.
“It’s supposed to be a chilly night, so we’re excited that will [get] people in the spirit a bit,” event coordinator Becky Self said.
Those driving in the area should note that bridges will be open for about 30 minutes throughout the parade. The estimated opening times are as follows:
Spanish River Boulevard Bridge – Beginning at 6:50 p.m.
Palmetto Park Bridge – Beginning at 7:20 p.m.
Camino Real Bridge – Beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Boca Raton shoppers may rank among the nation's top holiday spenders, but residents don't hold back when it comes to helping those in need, either. According to Self, SeaTow boats with the parade collected 1,800 toys for the U.S. Marines' Toys for Tots drive last year. She said she thinks the holidays let Boca Raton showcase all the great things the community has to offer.
