Boca Raton Ranks Among Nation's Biggest Holiday Spenders, Study Shows
We already know Boca Raton has tons of holiday spirit, but now we have proof of how much we love holiday shopping: A new study shows we spend a lot of money this time of year—as in, more than much of the rest of the country.
Financial website WalletHub ranked individuals' average holiday spending habits across 563 U.S. cities, and Boca Raton ranked among the top 10 percent. In its analysis, WalletHub considered people's incomes, debt, expenses and savings, and how those financial patterns compare to one another.
According to the study, Boca Raton spenders, who earned the city the No. 52 spot on the list, budget an average of $1,374 toward holiday spending.
Nearby in Broward County, Weston earned the top spot in Florida, with people spending an average of $1,523 on the holidays, earning the city a No. 37 ranking on the national list.
Nationally, the per-person holiday spending average is expected to reach $805.65 this year, the highest on record with the National Retail Federation.
