Boca Is Second Worst City For Speed Traps In Florida, Ninth In U.S.

Slow down, drivers: A new study shows Boca Raton is one of the worst cities for speed traps.

CheapCarInsurance.net recently released a report ranking the 20 worst cities for speed traps in the country. Boca has the second most speed traps in Florida and the ninth highest in the U.S., according to the report.

Another Florida city, Sarasota, took the top spot with an average of 140 speed traps per 100,000 residents.

To come up with its ranking, the car insurance comparison website analyzed a driver-reported data set spanning 15 years from The National Speed Trap Exchange, a site run by the National Motorist Association that tracks speed traps through user submissions.

According to the site, Boca has an average of 104 speed traps per 100,000 residents.

The Spanish River Road intersection at the I-95 overpass was also identified as the top driver-confirmed speed trap in the state. (At least 25 people on the speed trap exchange site had to confirm it was a speed trap after the first driver submitted the location.)
