Boca West Children's Foundation Grants $1.13 Million To Help Children In Need

In Palm Beach County, one in four children live in poverty. Boca West Children’s Foundation is trying to put an end to that.

In 2019, the foundation has granted a record $1.13 million to 25 Palm Beach County nonprofits supporting children. Since 2010, it has given more than $8 million.

“Our mandate is to identify and implement projects assisting at-risk children and their families for partner agencies in our community,” said Arthur Adler, Boca West Children’s Foundation chairman, in a press release.

The funding aims to feed, educate and clothe 5,500 children in need, as well as keep them safe and healthy.

“We believe every child has basic rights,” said Jennifer Bate Richy, executive director of Boca West Children’s Foundation. “Children should have food and a safe place to sleep; access to educational opportunities; basic dental and medical care; and to be able to just be normal kids.”

Bate Richy said the goal is to “level the playing field through efforts from cradle to college.” Each one of the partner agencies Boca West Children’s Foundation works with goes through a careful vetting process to ensure ultimate success in helping children in need.

In honor of Boca West Children’s Foundation’s 10th anniversary in 2020, its Board of Directors has created “Mission 2030." Its goal is to focus on the organization’s objectives as well as challenges it may face within the next decade.

Alongside the new mission, the children’s foundation has also grown its fundraising endeavors by creating a planned giving program for people who want to make helping children their legacy.

Boca West Children Foundation's 25 charity partners include: American Association of Caregiving Youth; Boca Helping Hands; Boca Raton Children’s Museum; Bound for College; Boys & Girls Clubs; Caridad Center; FAU Band Camp; Florence Fuller Child Development Centers; Gift of Life; JAFCO and JAFCO Ability Center; Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County; Junior League of Boca Raton; Kelly Strul Emerging Scholars Program at FAU; KidSafe Foundation; Nat King Cole Generation Hope; Place of Hope – Dr. Leighan and David Rinker Campus; Police Athletic League; Red Apple Supplies – Education Foundation of Palm Beach County; Rotary Club of Boca Raton; SCOPE; SOS Children's Village; Sweet Dream Makers; Unicorn Academy; Viner Community Scholars; and Youth Activity Center.

“We have accomplished many goals in our first decade,” Bate Richy said. “But there continue to be families in need; Boca West Children’s Foundation will be here to help those children.”
