Habit Burger Is Opening Its First Florida Location In Delray, But It Might Not Be Its Only South Florida Spot For Long
When Habit Burger Grill officially opens its Delray Beach location Wednesday, it will be the store’s first restaurant in Florida and only its third on the East Coast. But that might not be true for long.
The California-based burger chain is “growing faster than Chipotle,” according to Forbes, and it has plans to expand across South Florida, Orlando and Tampa in the next 12 months, the South Florida Business Journal reports.
“Delray Beach has such a vibrant economy, and we felt it would be a great location for the first of many Habit Burger Grills in South Florida and throughout the state,” Matt Hood, Habit Burger Grill’s chief marketing officer, told Boca Life Magazine.
Habit Burger’s signature charburgers are grilled over an open flame and served with lettuce, tomato and caramelized onions, all fresh cut daily. Specialty burgers include the teriyaki charburger, topped with grilled pineapple, and the Santa Barbara burger (named for the California city where Habit Burger first opened up shop in 1969) with avocado.
What’s unique about Habit Burger—besides the fact that Americans polled by Consumer Reports voted it the best-tasting burger in the country—is that it’s a fast-casual burger joint with other high-quality alternatives, such as sushi-grade tuna steak sandwiches. The chain also sells sandwiches with grilled lean pastrami and tri-tip steak marinated in-house, as well as side orders including tempura green beans.
Delray Beach was selected as Florida’s first Habit Burger location because it has a great community of families and is very business-friendly, according to Hood.
“We look for locations where we can become a part of the community and get to know our neighbors and serve the families in our local trade area,” he said.
The company has already started doing just that. Over the weekend, Delray’s Habit Burger let guests preview the menu when it hosted several pre-opening events to raise money for local organizations, including the Delray Beach Athletic Club, Habitat for Humanity and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Come Wednesday, Habit Burger’s newest store at the Delray Place shopping center will open its doors to the public permanently at 10:30 a.m.
