KidSafe Foundation To Honor Aly Raisman As National Child Advocate Of The Year At Annual Gala
Aly Raisman has served as a role model to children across America for years—first as an Olympic gold medal gymnast, and most recently as an advocate for sexual abuse survivors.
KidSafe Foundation, a nonprofit organization established to combat child sexual abuse, will honor Raisman as the National Child Advocate of the Year at its ninth annual “Shine the Light” gala, being held at Boca West Country Club on March 10.
Raisman is a two-time U.S. Gymnastics team captain and a six-time medalist. In her New York Times bestselling memoir, Fierce, Raisman walks readers through her journey in gymnastics, including her survival of sexual abuse.
The gala will also honor local restaurateur Rocco Mangel of Rocco’s Tacos as the Child Advocate of the Year for 2018. Rocco has raised $140,000 for the National MS Society and has contributed time and donations to the KidSafe Foundation, ALS Association, Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, Toys for Tots and other national and local organizations.
Funds raised at the gala will go towards KidsSafe programs, which bring direct services to thousands of children and adults affected by sexual abuse. The gala will feature singer Kendra Erika, a premium open bar, dinner, dancing and silent and live auctions. Tickets are $250 per person.
