Meet Bobby Flay At Downtown BBQ Throwdown In Boca Raton Next Weekend
Live out your “Throwdown with Bobby Flay” dreams when the celebrity chef comes to town for a charitable competition next week.
Guests will be able to taste the best barbecue South Florida has to offer when local pit masters compete for the title of Grand Champion at the Downtown BBQ Throwdown on Saturday, Feb. 18.
The food festival and ’cue competition will go down at Mizner Park Amphitheater, with grill expert and Food Network star Bobby Flay as the judge. The event takes place from noon to 5 p.m.
Spectators will enjoy an afternoon of barbecue tastings, drinks, demonstrations, midway games and live music, as pit masters compete for titles in categories like best chicken, ribs, butt, brisket and overall champion.
Gibson’s Smokehouse of Boca, Fat Boyzs BBQ in Deerfield, and even the Pompano Beach Fire Department will be among the more than 40 competitors from around Florida. The first-place winner will even have the opportunity to compete in the American Royal World Series of Barbecue in Kansas City.
As an added Food Network celebrity bonus, “Worst Cooks in America” co-host Anne Burrell will be participating in activities at the festival, alongside two young chefs—"Chopped Junior" contestant Jack Furman and Tyler Zager, who won a barbecue competition on the channel.
Then, special VIPs at an invitation-only brunch the following morning will get to continue the fun with a midday menu created by Burrell herself.
The philanthropic event will raise funds for eight local charities including Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Boca Helping Hands, and Brothers of St. Gregory’s.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $10 for children ages 9-12 and can be purchased here. Children 8 and under are free.
