Rappy’s Deli Is The Latest Rapoport's Restaurant Group Addition, And It’s Slated To Open In Boca In November 2016

With four successful eateries under his belt, you could say Burt Rapoport has the whole restaurant thing down pat. Next on his agenda? Bringing his latest vision to life in Boca Raton.

Rappy's Deli, a soulful, deli-inspired restaurant and bar, is slated to open at 5560 N. Military Trail in November. It will seat about 160.

UPDATE — Rappy's Deli opened for business on Tuesday, Dec. 6.

The eatery—which joins sister restaurants including Deck 84, Burt & Max’s, Bogart's Bar & Grille and Henry’s—pays tribute to Rapoport's late father, Ray. Known fondly as "Rappy," he pioneered Rapoport’s Restaurant, a well-known kosher dairy eatery on Second Avenue in Manhattan.

Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner—and cocktails—Rappy’s Deli will be a modern interpretation of a Jewish deli, serving classic dishes as well as some updated favorites.

“There is a growing trend around the country where reinterpreted delis are springing up," a restaurant representative said. "We didn’t feel there was anyone filling that niche in South Florida.”

Signature items on the Rappy's menu will include house-smoked pastrami and corned beef, stuffed cabbage, and gourmet hot dogs with house-made mustard, plus malts, shakes and freshly baked desserts.

At the 24-seat bar, guests will also be able to enjoy boozy milkshakes alongside their craft cocktails. The hope is for the full-service, indoor-outdoor bar within Park Place shopping center to become a local happy hour hot spot.

Rappy's decor will give off the vibe of a traditional deli in a modern environment—from vintage subway tile and chalkboard menus to stained concrete flooring, stainless steel and modern wooden elements.

In addition, the 4,300-square-foot restaurant will feature a deli take-out area, letting guests order any item on the menu to-go from open to close.

As for what Ray would think of the new setup?

“We think he’d say two things: 'If my name’s on it, it better be good,' and 'I’m glad there’s a bar,'" she said.
