Toast To Hemingway’s Birthday With This Cocktail By Delray’s 50 Ocean
July 16, 2015 — Delray Beach’s 50 Ocean is celebrating Ernest Hemingway’s birthday with food specials and a new cocktail.
The restaurant’s Hemingway lounge, which features black-and-white photos of the beloved American author, will be serving up happy hour-priced appetizers from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 25 to commemorate what would be the writer's 116th birthday. (Hemingway was actually born on July 21, but the restauran't "didn't want to have the party on a weeknight," a representative said.)
Food specials are great and all, but we all know you can’t celebrate Hemingway without the proper drink.
Luckily 50 Ocean mixologist Millie Wilkinson has created one for the event: Priced at $5, the “Papa” Hemingway Daiquiri features a combination of fresh lemon juice, fresh lime juice, agave nectar and Papa’s Pilar Rum, all shaken together and served ice cold. (Recipe below.)
So let’s think about this: You could celebrate Hemingway by picking up one of his famous books, or you could watch the sunset with a Hemingway Daiquiri in your hand. The choice is clear.
