Publisher's Letter: ‘Tis the Season

The spirit of the holidays fills the air, from twinkling lights lining the streets to carols piping through the stores as shoppers are out in full force finding the perfect presents. I love this time of year—festivities filling almost every day of the week from now until the first of the year. I adore spending time with family and old friends; dressy parties, gastronomic indulgences and giving to those less fortunate.

If you plan to serve up a fabulous holiday feast, you’ll want to take some inspiration from local chefs, including the culinary queen of iPic’s Tanzy restaurant and Food Network judge Sherry Yard. Whet your appetite with the tempting dish she prepared for us (recipes included), as well as those from five more foodie phenoms who had our mouths watering with the decadent dinner menu selections we sampled (page 50).

In keeping with the spirit of the season, get to know family man and restaurateur Mike Goodwin and his new Boca Raton brewery and restaurant, Crazy Uncle Mike’s. “Brews, bites and beats” are what’s on tap at his latest endeavor, but he’s also making his mark serving the needs of our community with charitable pursuits (page 30).

Raise your glass to Jesse Bongiovi and learn about the creative genius who’s behind the new rosé, Hampton Water. Rock star Jon Bon Jovi is proud of his young son’s success and the way he is rocking the wine industry, bottle by beautiful bottle (page 28).

Some of my most treasured holiday memories were those shared around the table in my family’s home in Maryland. A collection of paintings that once hung as the backdrop of every gathering now line my living room walls and brings me joy at every glance. If you are looking to adorn your life with fine art, take some tips from our feature (page 36).

While you’re at it, shop for something special for those you love and appreciate with the unique selections in our Gift Guide on page 58. Sometimes the best presents come from thinking outside the box! With Chanukah and Christmas a few weeks away, get online or in line, and make the holidays bright for everyone on your list.

Eat, drink, be merry… a little bit naughty, and especially nice, this holiday season.

I look forward to a wonderful 2019, living and loving the Boca Life with you!
