At CIAO Cucina & Bar, Expect Pizza Pies That Are Anything But Ordinary
Nestled toward the back of The Promenade at Coconut Creek is CIAO Cucina & Bar. The word “ciao” illuminates in large lettering on the back wall, giving a real meaning to the Italian greeting for diners. Once inside, there’s no escaping the smell of cuisine that is molto buono.
The restaurant opened in May featuring a gastropub concept where classic Italian fare is served along with dishes that offer an edgy approach. Tasty Parmesan polenta fries served with truffle ‘maionese’ or poutine (wedge fries, Gruyere, tender short rib and gravy) are a few shared plate favorites.
There are traditional pasta dishes like linguini ai frutti di mare, pappardelle cacio e pepe, plus crostini boards with options ranging from pork belly and eggplant caponata to prosciutto and fontina. But the showstoppers are the homemade pizza options that take a different spin from the classic Margherita. Find pies like the Underground, topped with potato, Gruyere and sweet onions or the Morning Sunshine with soft egg, Benton’s bacon, leeks, arugula and sour cream.
Enjoy a stocked bar serving Champagne, wines and signature cocktails. The Fig Fling blends wild turkey bourbon, orange liqueur, fresh lemon and fig jam for an unforgettable experience; or try the Vacanza Romana made with Amaro Averna, 1757 sweet vermouth, mint, fresh lemon and raw sugar.
As for the after-meal liqueur of choice, CIAO represents the Italian culture well by serving a refreshing, chilled limoncello shot made in-house during a five-week fermentation process. Take a bite of Nutella dolci di pane or espresso panna cotta to end the evening on a sweet note.
CIAO Cucina and Bar is open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch.
