QBar Burgers & Blues
On a Wednesday night, sounds of smooth jazz escape a narrow bar through its accordion patio doors. Behind the counter, a blonde singer, raised by a platform and accompanied by two other musicians, is the focal point in the low-lit gastropub. And, QBar Burgers & Blues, which was inspired by The French Quarter in New Orleans (hence the ‘Q’), fills a void in the hearts of Fort Lauderdale blues and jazz lovers.
It’s the works of Chef Laurent Tasic, long-time mastermind behind Fort Lauderdale’s Sage French Café & Wine Bar – which is right next door to QBar. Tasic decided to expand his culinary repertoire to gastropub fare, craft beer and gourmet burgers by opening the restaurant early this year.
Situate yourself on one of the elevated stools along the 78-foot copper and wooden bar, and snack on the short rib sliders or the buffalo mozzarella wrapped with arugula and prosciutto. Next, fill up on the fried baked Brie, which comes on a mixed nut salad with apple chutney, or indulge on a chili that uses filet mignon in place of traditional ground beef ingredients.
Wash it all down by taking advantage of QBar’s hand-selected wine cellar, a full-liquor bar, more than 20 craft beers on draft and 50 beers by the bottle from local breweries like Funky Buddha.
